Semester in the Netherlands 2011

5-15-11
Samantha and I went downtown to my church. In the evening, we both took part in the Casino Royal themed poker tournament. What a good time. I was the first one out, unfortunately. Oh well. Better luck next time.
5-16-11
Samantha left today. It was so fun having her visit me! We went out for lunch/breakfast before heading to Central Station.

5-14-11
I went to Rotterdam on a fieldtrip. Sam came along, too. We went on a boat tour and saw the harbor. We also went to a museum and toured a coast guard ship. The city contrasted Amsterdam since it looked much newer. It had been severely destroyed during the war, so the buildings are much new than those found in Amsterdam. Sam and I hung out with friends in the evening.

Sam and I went to H+M and got a dress for Ry. We went out for an early dinner at an Argentinian restaurant. The restaurant was right next to a coffee shop. While we were eating a guy came stumbling out of the coffee shop and fell to the ground. He had to sit in a seat in the middle of the street till he could regain the strength to walk again. Wow!

5-12-11
Sam and I went back to the Albert Cuip market in the morning. In the afternoon, we went on my Calvin class excursion to the Muiderslot castle! We took a guided tour through part of the castle and learned about how the castle dwellers lived and went about daily life. I found it interesting that people used to sleep while sitting up. No wonder the beds were a bit short!

Sam and I meant to meet up with our Calvin friend, Christophe, but our communication was bad. I took Sam to the I amsterdam sign and shopped at the Albert Cuip market.
